FROM PRINCE & PENSIONERS

Donations for the Restoration of St Woolos Cathedral have started to come in. HRH The Prince of Wales has made a donation and pensioners from across the Diocese have also made donations.

The Cathedral Girls Brigade are collecting 1p and 2p coins and before they break up for the Summer they hope to have enough to make a chain around the Cathedral.

The New Mayor of Newport, Cllr Miqdad Al-Nuiami has announced the that his two designated Charities for his year of office are Growing Spaces and the Cathedral restoration Fund.

Welcoming the Mayor' s decision the Dean said: "I am very grateful to the Mayor. This is a further example of the close relationship there is between the Cathedral and City. Again this year we will welcome the City fathers for the Civic Service and we were pleased to be asked by the Mayor to host its Holocaust Memorial Service last January".

THE APPEAL FUND STANDS at £15,000 (May 24th)
